If it was built or refitted before 2000 it may do. Only lab analysis of a sample can confirm it.
Which survey do I need?
A management survey for a building in normal use; a refurbishment and demolition survey before works that disturb the structure. We confirm which when you call.
How long does it take?
Houses usually take one to three hours; business premises are quoted with a time on site. Lab results follow within 24 hours of sampling.
Is it dangerous to take samples?
No. The spot is dampened, a small piece is taken and the area is sealed immediately.
What exactly do I get?
A report to HSG264 listing each material with its location, photo, lab result, condition, risk score and recommended action.
I'm buying a house — is it worth it?
If the building survey mentions possible asbestos, yes — facts are worth more than a warning when you negotiate.
Do I have to remove it?
Usually not. Intact material that won't be disturbed is normally left and monitored.
Is asbestos in a garage roof a problem?
Intact cement sheets are low risk. Cutting, breaking or jet-washing them is what releases fibres.
